Star Trek Cookbook = Slash
Yes, dear Spirkers, I’ve found it in the cookbook. But I guess I should start at the beginning.
So, I got this for Christmas from my mother-in-law.
And since I love Star Trek just as much as I love cooking, I was fucking estatic. Still am.
So, get this. They have a recipe in here for Plomeek soup, I kid you not (the soup Chapel makes for Spock in Amok Time). I know, awesome, right? (They also have a recipe in here for those beans McCoy makes on the camping trip in The Final Frontier as well as his Mint Julep, but that’s neither here nor there) Oh, but it gets better. Much better.
It’s not just Plomeek Soup, it’s Captain Kirk’s Plomeek Soup.
Now, now. I DO WONDER why Captain Kirk would have a recipe for such a thing? Here’s a couple of quotes from the book that just might shed some light;
“Spock’s passion for plomeek soup is legendary throughout Starfleet”
“If it took a bowl of plomeek soup to straighten out Spock’s personality, then Captain Kirk was all for it.”
Essentially, the implication here is that Kirk has designed his own recipe of plomeek soup especially for Spock.
Now, I don’t wish to place politcally-incorrect judgements on the relationship here, and honestly if it were any two other characters I’d probably just accept it as…well, okay, a little suspicious.
But this is Kirk and Spock we’re talking about and now we know that Kirk has not only prepared soup for Spock before, but designed his own recipe especially to Spock’s liking.
And let us not forget that Chapel made some and tried to give it to Spock as a way to win his heart, but Spock denied her because it was improper for a woman that was not his to wait on him. Well, now I think we be certain that it was also because Chapel was not Kirk and the soup not the special kind Kirk makes.
That, to me, is more than a little bit romantic. <3
